Finnish Red Cross Blood Service Licenses Ariadne Pathway Studio Enterprise
Rockville, MD (PRWEB) June 18, 2008 -- Ariadne today announced that Finnish Red Cross has licensed Pathway Studio Enterprise for pathway, biological process and disease modeling. Finnish Red Cross scientists will use Pathway Studio Enterprise to extract information from text, create custom cell type-, ICD10 disease-, and organism-specific databases, and use them for disease etiology research and risk group identification.
"MedScan is the only existing tool that allows flexible concentration of biomedical text and extraction of knowledge, e.g., after a batch download of full-text articles or Google Scholar full text queries into a database amenable for further analysis," said Pauli Ojala, Bioinformatician at Finnish Red Cross. "Pathway Studio Enterprise allows us to easily add and update databases, expand the database content, and work with our own and third party data. The first step in reviewing a manuscript now is to make a quick and flat mind-map of its relations to visualize the bulk text. Even in a trivial topic, it is handy to count the contradicting claims in a self correcting process ".
Ariadne Pathway Studio comes with ResNet database of more than a million unique molecular interactions and functional relationships extracted from the literature, with references to their original sources. It includes tools to query the database, create molecular networks, and interpret gene expression and other experimental data. Pathway Studio includes MedScan text mining module to update the ResNet and create custom databases.
"Scientists from Finnish Red Cross have created several different pipelines that process literature and automatically update their custom human and non-mammalian databases," said Olivier Brun, Ariadne European Sales Manager. "This instant availability of knowledge from the whole PubMed and the ability to customize MedScan for work with different types of data is what caused the Finnish Red Cross to select Ariadne Pathway Studio Enterprise".
